Bienvenidos a Costa Rica! (Welcome to Costa Rica!) Located beside the Tango Mar Resort, Palacio Tropical is an oceanfront estate nestled into the lush rain forest of Costa Rica’s finest beachfront community. Considered Costa Rica’s premier beach-front estate, many celebrities have called Palacio Tropical home! Palacio Tropical has played host to many weddings, family reunions, and group events. Our house and staff are well equipped to handle even the most discriminating groups!
With over 10,000 heated/air-conditioned square feet, the home boasts seven (7) master bedrooms, an eighth bedroom designed as a one (1) bedroom apartment with full kitchen, two (2) living areas, a media room, a large dining room with 14 person table and a chef’s kitchen. Exterior features of the home include a dramatic entry with waterfall and teak bridge, multiple decks (all with ocean views), beachfront pool with kid’s pool, outdoor bar, covered veranda with 14 person table, outside showers and direct access to a private two mile beach.
During your stay, enjoy cook, housekeeping and driver service, including transfers from the Tambor airport and a daily treat of fresh tropical fruit. Spend your days lounging by the pool and water feature or private beach; the pool deck has plenty of loungers for everyone. There’s an outdoor shower for post-swim rinses and a home theater, satellite TV, iPod dock and dial-up Internet access for post-swim relaxing. Sleep in comfort thanks to air conditioning and ceiling fans, and watch the sun rise over the ocean from the villa’s balconies.
With stucco walls, a tiled roof and traditional furnishings, Palacio Tropical takes its inspiration from sophisticated Mediterranean villas. Wrought-iron chandeliers, a spiral staircase and terracotta floors are an elegant backdrop for the living room’s inviting leather sofas and armchairs. The dining room’s brick ceiling and upholstered chairs are an ideal spot for more formal family dinners, while island seating in the gourmet kitchen is perfect for breakfast or snacks.
From the villa’s beachfront location it’s a 2-minute walk to the Tango Mar resort, tennis courts, a golf course, exercise facilities, a restaurant and a grocery store. The Barcelo casino and resort is 7 miles from Palacio Tropical, and the town of Tambor and its airport are 10 minutes by car. A transfer from the Tambor airport is included in your stay, but a transfer from the San Jose airport can be arranged at extra cost.

The dream was to build a luxury villa in in Costa Rica. There was a spectacular beachfront home site available and it was quickly purchased. The owners hired Omar Bonilla, one of Costa Rica’s finest architects, to design a home that emphasized the home site’s location and embellished the spectacular ocean views. After six (6) months of design, construction was started on Palacio Tropical. Over eighty (80) workers and craftsmen were hired from all over Central America to build Palacio Tropical. It took over a year to complete the home, however, the owners then had to furnish this tropical palace.
An interior design firm from world-famous Hilton Head Island, SC USA was hired and in the end, over $250,000 of furniture was purchased for Palacio Tropical.

Situated near Montezuma, Palacio Tropical offers free WiFi, and guests can enjoy a private beach area, an outdoor swimming pool and barbecue facilities and private chef.

FLY into San Jose then either fly, 20 minutes into Tambor Airport or travel by land 31/2 hours by car and ferry. We provide free pick up at Tambor and can provide transportation by land. Jacó is 26.7 miles, Santa Teresa is 11.8 miles from the property. Please make sure you have your Passports updated. There are car rentals available at the Tambor Airport.
Which side of the road to drive on in Costa Rica?
As a tourist in Costa Rica, if you have a valid driver's license, you are legal to drive here during your stay. In Costa Rica you drive on the right side (just like USA or Canada). Driving signs are in Spanish and in kilometers. The normal speed limit on the highway is 90 kiometers per hour. There are many sight seeing opportunities, so you may want to consider a car rental during your stay.
